Base Game
Played across ever changing sized reels Hunters Moon Gigablox is initially played over 6 reels with each reel having the ability to grow in size and any symbols landing upon that reel being matched across adjacent reels. The game has low paying symbols depicted by traditional card suits from clubs to hearts with the highest paying symbols being portrayed by bears, wolves and owls these must align across the first three reels to give a minimum win with additional symbols awarding bigger hits. The player is helped in creating matching symbols by the wild symbol, this is only present across the top of the game grid where it moves one reel to the left after each subsequent spin and has a chance of awarding wilds to the four middle reels as it passes across them. The wild substitutes all other symbols except for the bonus scatter symbol aiding the player in unlocking wins.
Bonus Game
5 or more bonus symbols are needed to gain access to the free spins round and these are landed by first having a bonus symbol across the top reel in place of a wild symbol with it again having a chance of turning symbols underneath it into a bonus symbol. If the bonus symbol lands above a reel effected by gigablox it will have a chance of turning even more symbols into bonus scatters. The player is awarded 1 free spin for each bonus symbol landed as long as there are at least 5 and this carries over to the free spins round itself where any bonus symbol landed will award the player an additional free spin. Releasing just in time for halloween Hunters Moon Gigablox is definitely more trick than treat. Each spin within the slot is time consuming and laborious, first any wild or bonus on screen must move one step to the left, the gigablox must then decide how big they want to be the symbols then land followed by the wild or bonus on screen playing a short animation of it landing on the game board. This all equates to a ridiculously slow and hard to enjoy game. Added to this the "chance" of a wild or bonus symbol landing create an overall frustrating experience for the player. Bonus symbols and wilds cannot just land in the game first they have to be present across the top of the game board with a chance (in our experience a very slim chance) of them then even being present on the game board at all but the game will force you to sit and watch each animation of the wild and bonus symbols missing time and time again. The free spins round is also a mirroring of the base game with nothing to differentiate it or create excitement for the player except for additional chances of more wilds and more bonuses. This unfortunately means additional chances of more time wasting for the player with these features never really brining anything noteworthy to the overall experience.
